Bass Feedback Turntable
Feedback through turntable my system consists of a mcintosh c2300 preamp mc452 amp mcd500 sacd player vpi aries 3d with ortofon cadenza mc cartridge manley chinookse phono stage ps audio p5 sonus faber cremona auditor m speakers and rel b1 sub bass system.
Bass feedback turntable. I have a 2 1 setup using a pro ject rm 5 1 that sits on a one inch thick 18x24 piece of granite which rests on a stout shelving unit. I have a soundlab g056c turntable which is running on a sony str db930 receiver and two b w dm110 speakers. Alternatives build a small shelf to lift the turntable up off the amp. If nothing else this is better cooling for the amp.
It can come through the plinth but the turntable platter can have a resonance and pick it up. There may be direct sound transmitted from speaker to turntable. Im also thinking about weight does it matter for low rumble excessive subsonic bass acoustic feedback i mean i might not have the best wall that can handle a heavy turntable the shelf and i have seen some that is even lighter than my medium heavy less than 10kg turntable like a technics sl qd 33 4 5kg my relopp 2000mk2 is 6 75kg heavy. Hum noise when the bass is to loud.
Put the turntable on a solid shelf or stand. Subsonic filter cut at 10hz or 20hz. I m sure that this is a far from ideal setup however it was all i could practically afford. Then set a foam rubber square 75 to 1 available at fabric stores between the shelf and the turntable that should help isolate the turntable from mechanical vibration.
You have acoustic feedback. The turntable s biggest selling point is its ability to rip edit and store tracks from your vinyl collection. Wobbly furniture is a huge no no. So try moving the turntable.
The reasons are complex and many. I have been getting alot of feedback via the sub. 24 turntable rega the turntable s placement can negatively affect its sound quality. A rega p3 mk.
Once it hits a certain frequency its vibrates the turntable deck and thus sends a bass reverb feedback that wont. The problem i have is a really loud bass rumble feedback issue when i turn the volume up past a quarter of the way. If the turntable happens to be in a bass reinforcement mode this lowers the feedback threshold feeds back at lower volume settings however if located at a bass null feedback may not occur at all.
